Q: What is a Movement Reprogramming Specialist?
A: I specialize in identifying the movement patterns, compensation strategies, and neuromuscular habits that may be preventing your body from functioning efficiently. My work focuses on helping your body relearn more effective movement patterns so you can build strength, improve stability, and move with greater confidence for the long term.
Q: What is the first step?
A: Most clients begin with a Comprehensive Movement Blueprint, which serves as the foundation for all future work together.
If you are unsure whether Built for Life is the right fit for you, I also offer an optional Complimentary Consultation (up to 30 minutes) by phone, video call, or in person where we can discuss your goals, movement concerns, and any questions you may have before moving forward.
This consultation is conversation-based and does not include movement assessment, exercise prescription, treatment, or individualized programming. Request your Complimentary Consultation
Q: What happens during the Comprehensive Movement Blueprint?
A: This one-on-one assessment is designed to help uncover why your body may not be moving as efficiently as it could. During the session, I evaluate movement patterns, mobility restrictions, stability limitations, compensation strategies, and neuromuscular control that may be influencing how your body moves and performs.
Throughout the session, I provide real-time feedback so you better understand what I am observing.
Following the assessment, I create individualized programming designed specifically around your body’s unique movement needs.
Q: How is this different from Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy?
A: While my approach is rooted in nearly two decades of clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist, Built for Life is a fitness and wellness service. I focus on long-term performance, functional strength, and optimizing movement patterns for life, rather than acute rehabilitative care.
Q: How effective is virtual training compared to in-person?
A: Virtual training through The Precision Remote allows me to provide the same personalized movement coaching regardless of location. Through live observation, real-time movement cueing, and individualized programming, I help clients improve movement quality and build lasting progress from wherever they train.
This option works well for long-distance clients and also serves as a flexible alternative during inclement weather for local studio clients.
Q: Do I need to be “in shape” to start?
A: Absolutely not. I meet you exactly where you are. Whether you are returning from a long hiatus or are an elite athlete, our focus is on the quality of your movement first.
Q: Do I need a home gym or special equipment?
A: All in-person sessions take place at my dedicated Manchester Center Studio, where we provide all the necessary tools and equipment—all you need to do is show up ready to move. For my virtual clients, we design your training plan around your specific environment and whatever equipment you already have available.
Q: Do you work with clients who have specific fitness goals outside of movement reprogramming?
A: Absolutely. While movement reprogramming serves as the foundation of my approach, every client comes in with a different goal, background, and reason for seeking support.
My role is to help your body function more efficiently so you can pursue the activities and goals that matter most to you.
Clients I work with often have goals such as:
- Improving speed, agility, and movement efficiency for sports performance
- Building a stronger foundation when returning to exercise after a long break
- Improving stability and strength to support active aging and long-term independence
- Preventing re-injury while training for endurance events or recreational sports
- Rebuilding core strength and movement confidence during postpartum recovery
- Reducing recurring tension, instability, or compensation patterns that interfere with everyday life
Every program is individualized based on how your body currently moves, where limitations exist, and what you ultimately want your body to be able to do.
Q: Do you accept insurance or HSA/FSA cards?
A: Built for Life is a private-pay wellness service. Built for Life does not bill insurance companies directly, nor do I process HSA/FSA cards. Payment is due in full at the time of booking. While some of my clients successfully use health funds for these services, reimbursement is not guaranteed and is at the sole discretion of your provider.
Q: How can I seek reimbursement for my sessions?
A: Upon request, Built for Life can provide a standard itemized receipt that includes my Tax ID and a description of services.
Please note that Built for Life does not provide clinical documentation, medical coding (ICD-10/CPT), nor letters of medical necessity. If you plan to seek reimbursement, I recommend the following steps:
- Consult your Doctor: Ask your physician for a referral emailed to karra@builtforlife-fit.com. You should also request a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN), as HSA/FSA administrators typically require this documentation to qualify movement reprogramming as a covered health expense.
- Check for Wellness Perks: Many insurance plans offer an annual “Wellness Reimbursement” for specialized training or health-related services.
